HIV RATES IN PHILADELPHIA ARE
FIVE TIMES THE NATIONAL AVERAGE
In the past decade or so... HIV has fallen out of the headlines. In fact, there's a large group of people in this country that think it's cured. This is far from true.
THERE IS NO CURE!
PHILADELPHIA TEENS ARE AT RISK!
Ages 13-24 are at SERIOUS risk of contracting HIV! And NOONE is talking about it or educating our youth. The rate of black women in Philadelphia living with diagnosed HIV is SEVEN TIMES that of White women.
1 in 4 new HIV infections occurs in youth ages 13 to 24 years
About 12,000 youth in 2010, or about 1,000 per month, were infected with HIV.
About 60% of all youth, with HIV do not know they are infected, are not getting treated, and can unknowingly pass the virus on to others.
Asthma is one of the most common pulmonary diseases in the HIV-infected population, and recent evidence suggests a higher rate of bronchial hyper-responsiveness in HIV-infected individuals. Learn more regarding asthma prevention from our sponsor.
