Individuals who are HIV positive, family and friends of infected persons, and providers of services to the HIV/AIDS community are welcome to participate in our programs.
Information for first timers: We are now doing Intake Interviews for all new clients to provide a full orientation to all our services, meet staff, complete the registration form and have a tour of our facility. This can be arranged by calling us at 215-765-6633.
Please be on time for scheduled activities. People arriving more than 15 minutes after the start of a program may not be able to participate.
There is no charge for our services; however, donations are greatly appreciated.
Siloam offers a variety of programs and services that work in conjunction with traditional medical care. Clients are welcome to attend those programs they feel would be most helpful.
Please see the monthly calendar for specific dates and times for activities. Note: reiki, massage, reflexology, shiatsu, pastoral counseling, spiritual direction and supportive counseling are not listed since these are all by appointment.
SUPPORT & DISCUSSION GROUPS
Groups facilitated by trained professionals that allow people to share experiences and concerns with others who understand in a safe, confidential and compassionate setting.

RETREATS
Retreats provide an opportunity to get outside the normal routine to reflect on matters relating to one’s feelings of connectedness to self, others and a higher power. Three-day off-site retreats include group discussions, creative arts, body work and time to relax. Monthly one-day on-site retreats provide an additional opportunity for reflection, sharing and personal growth. Registration is required.
INDIVIDUAL COUNSELING
Siloam provides one on one pastoral counseling and spiritual direction to assist persons living with or affected by HIV/AIDS explore their life’s meaning and concerns. Short-term supportive counseling is also available. Call for an appointment.
EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS
Becoming better informed helps individuals be more active in their health and in interacting with their medical care providers. Topics are selected that are relevant to some aspect of managing with HIV. Siloam also holds occasional one-day programs focusing on a specific aspect of living with HIV/AIDS
Ongoing educational programs at Siloam are:
· Lunch & Learn sessions featuring an expert on a specific aspect of HIV, treatment or complementary care.
· Nutrition Matters – talks on nutrition topics presented by a registered dietician from MANNA, and a monthly cooking class.
COMPLEMENTARY THERAPIES
Research is increasing providing evidence of how complementary therapies can improve overall wellness, strengthen the immune system, reduce stress and enhance the mental outlook for people with HIV. For example, massage relaxes muscles, increases circulation and releases tension; Reiki increases energy flow and restores balance by focusing on the body’s energy field; Tai Chi improves balance and focus, and Yoga increases flexibility, lowers blood pressure, improves mood and enhances breathing.
Yoga, Mindful Moving Meditation, Tai Chi and Wellness through Dance & Movement are offered as weekly, ongoing classes. No previous experience or registration is necessary and you can start at any time. Siloam offers massage, reiki, shiatsu and reflexology on an individual basis and clients may schedule one appointment per month. Please note that body work is provided by certified practitioners who volunteer their time. Our ability to offer these services is dependent on their availability.
